Can you explain the Canadian love for Tim Hortons? From Edmonton, Alberta to Listowel, Ontario and every small town in between (or at least Stoney Creek, Blind River, Wawa, and Dryden) there is always a line up at the counter and at the drive through. Regardless of the time of day Tim Hortons always is filled with customers enjoying one of their beverages – coffee, steeped tea, ice cappuccino, or chocolate milk and perhaps also a donut, muffin or cookie.
However, just an hour south of the Canadian border in Michigan, I found myself pulling into an empty Tim Hortons parking lot. There was no one at the drive through and no one lined up at the counter. There was not even anyone sitting enjoying a Tim Hortons steeped tea. In 30 minutes only 3 other customers passed through the doors. I felt uneasy. Why do my American neighbours not share the Canadian passion for Timmy’s?

I think Canadians take the extra effort to go to Timmy's BECAUSE it's Canadian. We are proud in our own strange ways :)
You are so right. Sometimes the Canadians here at the London Mennonite Centre start expounding on the glories of Tim Hortons(coffee and doughnuts) and how much we miss them. The USians don't get it!! But we can get Tim's coffee here in England. There is one small franchise store that offers TH coffee and doughnuts. However, Janelle says that they cheat with the doughnuts and really just use some form of an English doughnut. It did not satisfy her need!!
