Shimmering Moon

As I look out into the night sky from the plane window, I catch a glimpse of a shimmering path of light on a waterway below, created by the full moon’s reflection on the water. The moonlight appears to speed along the river following each bend. I watch until the waterway seems to disappear.

The glow of this same full moon rests on my shoulder as I drive along familiar country roads from Kitchener to Brussels bringing peace to my soul. As I drive the moon illuminates road side stands of gladiolas, left unsold at the end of a summer day.

Lying awake in bed after enjoying my extra large Tim Horton’s steeped tea, at too late of an hour, I watch as the light from this same moon begins to caste shadows from the curtains on to the pink and green Bride’s Quilt pieced and quilted by my great aunt Sarah.

This same moon creates a silhouette of the concrete silos and the green steel-covered bank barn as I glance out the bedroom window.

And as I begin to fall asleep, I’m reminded this same moon beams down on YOU too, wherever you are in the world.
