Traditional skirts are worn in Laos to most places of work, wedding celebrations and official events. Traditionally skirts were woven from silk or cotton, but currently there are numerous kinds of synthetic materials sold for making "sinhs". The "sinh" is basically a tube that doubles in the front and is held in place with hooks and eyes at the waist line. Traditionally women also wore a silver belt.

They are stunning. Looking forward to seeing the one you chose. I am really enjoying and being blessed by your blogs.
All of these "sinhs" belong to my host family. I took the picture after everyone had returned from the tailor with new "sinhs". I have one very similar to the one on the right, but with a different border on the bottom.
